Is caffeine healthy for women?

Caffeine acts as a mild stimulant to the central nervous system. Caffeine can improve memory, decrease fatigue, and improve your mental functioning. Caffeinated beverages such as coffee and tea contribute to your day’s water intake as non-caffeinated drinks do. High caffeine intake may have a mild diuretic effect (water loss through urination), however the fluid in the beverage usually cancels any loss. Therefore, caffeinated drinks do not cause dehydration or electrolyte imbalance. Heavy daily caffeine use — more than 500 to 600 mg a day — may cause “coffee jitters,” anxiety, insomnia, restlessness, fast heart rate, stomach upset, and muscle tremors.

Caffeine sensitivity depends on the amount and frequency of caffeine intake, body weight, and physical condition. For most healthy adults, moderate amounts of caffeine- 200 to 300 mg a day- pose no physical problems. Caffeine does not accumulate in the body and within three to four hours, most is excreted. The caffeine content of inVok is 85 mg per 8.4 fluid oz., so that if additional sources of caffeine are consumed, daily intake would still fall within healthy guidelines. If you have a medical condition or are pregnant, ask a health professional to guide you on safe caffeine consumption.

How much sugar is in invok?

While many conventional energy drinks contain 20-30 grams of total sugar, inVok has 9-10 grams of total sugar per serving. The American Heart Association recommends that women limit added sugar to no more than 25 grams of sugar, about 6 teaspoons a day.

What type of sweeteners are used in inVok’s formula?

Fruit juice concentrates including pear, apple, lemon cranberry, pomegranate, and blackberry are used to achieve the unique aroma and flavor profiles of inVok Citrus, inVok Cranbery, and inVok Pom-berry (coming in 2016).

Stevia Leaf Extract is a plant-derived zero-calorie sweetener that is 300 times as sweet as sugar. As a natural sweetener, it replaces the need for an additional 10-12 grams of sugar in our formula.

Erythritol is a sugar alcohol that is 60-70 percent as sweet as sugar and blends well with stevia leaf extract. Erythritol is unique among sugar alcohols because it has far fewer calories than the others (so little that a teaspoons has less than 1 calorie) and most of it gets excreted from your body. The other sugar alcohols end up in the large intestine, which can cause bloating and gas. Contrary to its name, sugar alcohols are not real alcohols and offer a clean sweet taste without promoting tooth decay.
